Why Early Years Nature Connections?

I am concerned with what I perceive as an evolution of society and how it impacts on children’s lives. It seems the world is speeding up, there is so much to fit in. We seem to be always rushing. In this hurley-burley of modern time with so many activities scheduled, highly timetabled children are losing out. When is the time reserved for playing in the backyard, in the creek, at the beach?

More and more I see new subdivisions with the house taking up the whole footprint of the block. Where is the outdoor space for children?

These two factors TIME and SPACE play on my mind. They reinforce to me the vital importance of Early Learning settings redressing this. We have an obligation to children to support their connection to nature and the environment.
